As the capstone project from my MHCI grad school program, our team of five students redesigned the app for Boulder Crest Retreat, a rehabilitation and training program for combat veterans in recovery from post-traumatic stress.
In addition to the app redesign, we applied a service design mindset to construct a strategic roadmap based on our extensive research.
What we made
The primary client ask was an improved design for their educational web app. We delivered a new modular dashboard, as well as interactive lessons for students to proceed through weekly reading and homework assignments. Our new design concepts, which were implemented on the live app in the months following our project, better captured the unique style and stakes of the Boulder Crest recovery journey.

To bring value beyond just the updated app, we evaluated the program from a service design perspective. We proposed a series of initiatives the Boulder Crest team could pursue in the coming months and years, documenting opportunities and specific steps toward implementation. This was crafted as a roadmap for their organization to better meet the needs and goals of their students and educators.
